You will need:
200mm x 25mm untreated dressed pine (actual size 180mm x 20mm approx.), wood glue, 40mm screws, jigsaw/drop saw, screwdriver/bits/countersink, exterior filler/sandpaper/brushes, Resene Quick Dry Primer, Resene testpot; Rose used Resene Flourish.
Cutting list:
Instructions:
Cut out the pieces.
Using the jig saw cut the doors in the front and the divider. Set the base of the door up 20mm on the front.
Mark, drill and countersink the screw holes in the sides and the base. Assemble to box with glue and screws. Set the divider about 150mm away from the front panel with the door on the opposite side. The back wall has a gap at the top for air circulation.
Assemble the roof – the battens assist the roof to stay firm so fit them front and sides and forward of the air gap at the back.
Allow the glue to fully dry. Fill the screw holes with filler and allow to dry. Sand well. Undercoat with Resene Quick Dry primer and then two topcoats in your favorite testpot colour (Rose used Resene Flourish).
Top tip: A variation of this could also work as a home for other small animals.
